English language tests disadvantage non-whites - Dr Tara Mukherjee, President of Confederation of Indian Organisations criticised the proposals to introduce English language tests for the migrants coming to the UK in the Queen’s Speech. Speaking to the Guardian on 5th November, Dr Mukherjee said “ It would mean that people from English-speaking countries, which are predominantly white, would have no difficulty in passing the tests, while those from non-English speaking countries, which are predominantly non-white, will be disadvantaged. “ Click for article
